TELLIN' THE WIND WHICH WAY TO BLOW

1. Who are all these people
Drifting aimlessly by
Faces to the pavement
Afraid to see the sky
Floating with the river
Whereever it may flow
I just sit here watching
Tellin' the wind which way to blow

C. La la la la
La la la la
La la la la la
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la la

2. The future is unwritten
The past can't be redone
The present is the only
Thing you can live upon
It's the law of attraction
You reap what you sow
I sit here watchin'
Tellin' the wind which way to blow

3. I used to live in the river
A long, long time ago
Since then I've found out
What no one seems to know
I crawled out of the river
I had to let it go
Now I sit here watchin'
Tellin' the wind which way to blow

PAINTED WITH THE RAINBOW DEW

Painted with the rainbow dew
Of radiant yet darkened hue
From far across the crystal sea
I hear them call, they beckon me
Then from my soul resistance flies
As one, I melt into her eyes

SKY

1. I heard a song playing in my head
As I lay sleeping in my bed
And I began to wonder why

2. I thought that maybe I was dead
But I awoke alive instead
And I felt like I was free to fly

C. Have you felt the fullness of the alabaster skies
Have you touched the sun before she dies
Have you heard the wisdom of the eagle when she cries
Have you ever noticed the wonder in my eyes

3. Then I looked upon myself
On my celestial shelf
And I knew that I am I

4. Then my love, I saw you
And the light came pouring thru
From three words burning on the sky

IN THE MORNING

1. When the night lets loose his grip upon the sun
And her golden fingers creep across my floor
I feel an angel breathing warm upon my chest
And there ain't no way that I could ask for more

C. In the morning I wake beside you
And in the morning I know my love is true
In the morning every thing's new
And in the morning all I want is you

2. I watch the midnight shadows fading in the light
And wipe the drowsy mist from my tired eyes
And as consciousness seeps into my mind
I feel the gentleness of your sleeping sighs

ON A HUNCH

On a hunch I bought some Crunch
The Cap'n's berries sweet

Into the bath like grapes of wrath
They stomped beneath my feet

When I was done the Cap'n won
He would not cross the line

My tub was full of cereal
Refusing yet to whine

THE PATH I FOLLOW

1. Down the path I follow
Where the bison wallow
Mother reflected in the sky

2. Footprints in the hollow
Medicine I swallow
From the mystic moon lit cry

C. Sacred voices calling
An eagle sings
Grandfathers tell us what we'll find
One Earth for the People,
The four-legs and wings
When we leave this world behind

3. From the earth the power
That will help to shower
Peace across the land

4. Then will come the hour
The sacred tree shall flower
The mighty nation, it shall stand

MYSTIC CIRCLE

Mystic circle
Mystic ring
Flow around me
Everything
Seems to brighten
Is more real
Mystic circle
Mystic wheel

Mystic circle
Mystic ring
Angel's voices
Angel's wing
Fold around me
Like a glove
Mystic circle
Mystic Love

LIVING ON THE LEG OF A DOG

C. We're living on the leg of a dog
My name is Bill and my brother's name is Grog
We'd drown on the leg of a frog
So we're living on the leg of a dog

1. Now it's just my brother and me
There used to be more like a hundred and three
But he got a new collar, you see
It ain't easy bein' a flea

2. Life just can't always be fair
Sometimes we talk about movin' somewhere
But then again I don't care
'Cuz what would we do without hair?

3. There's nothing here that just can't wait
There's no social functions so we're never late
I open an office at eight
And sell doggy real estate

THERE'S A TIME UPON US

There's a time upon us
Open the door
Walls come tumble around us
Lay on the floor
Can't you see them fallin'
Soldiers of war
Can't you see them fallin'
No more

~January, 1990

JUST FREE

1. Shadows of reality bouncin' off my brain
Just like the footsteps of an evening summer rain
And I just can't worry 'cuz I can't feel the pain anymore

2. And I feel intoxicated but I ain't had a drink
I guess that comes from being right on the brink
And I'm overjoyed because what I think is in store

C. And I'm free
Look what's happened to me
Lord I'm free
Why can't you be
Just free

Mystic fingers running up my spine
Tellin' me exactly what is and isn't mine
And then I touch the face of the Divine

C. 'Cuz I'm free
Look what's happened to me
Lord I'm free
Why can't you be
Just free
Look what's happened to me
Lord I'm free
Why can't you be
Just free

It's just me
Just free

RAINBOWS AND UNICORNS

1. I don't want no part of a world with no love
A world all down here with none up above
You've all but destroyed Her, this big marble stone
All that I ask is that you leave my world alone

C. Rainbows and unicorns and dolphins in the sky
My world of wonders never wondering why
Peace is the answer and the answers don't lie
Rainbows and unicorns and dolphins in the sky

2. You know this ol' world has been stained red with blood
Too many things have been dragged thru the mud
If we could just stop our ego-fired greeds
Maybe we could satisfy everyone's needs

3. You've tried to subdue Her, crush Her under your track
But don't be surprised when She starts fighting back
And don't come acryin', I won't hear you moan
'Cuz I'll be a-livin' in a world of my own

NO OTHER BLUE

1. I've had times
I've been blue
Discovered dreams
That proved untrue

C. But when I think of you
I no longer cry
'Cuz I'm no other blue
But the sky

2. All other blues
In the world are sad
Emotions lost
Over things gone bad

C. But only one
Is the lover's sigh
And I'm no other blue
But the sky

3. This old lonely heart
Has found meaning in you
So how could I be
Any other blue

C. Your love lifts me up
Where the eagles fly
And I'm no other blue
But the sky

On wings of love
My heart soars high
'Cuz I'm no other blue
But the sky

I'm no other blue but the sky

JACKSON

Jackson was an outlaw
Or so the people said
They say he just went crazy
And shot his mother dead

People make up stories
When the truth's unknown
No one saw the stranger
'Cuz Jackson was alone

He barely lived through lynch mobs
He just had to survive
Vengeance couldn't be his
With his enemy alive

He set out on his own then
No one believed the truth
Who would put their trust
Into an outlaw youth?

He rode on in silence
The wind blew through his hair
Until he saw the campfire
And the villain sitting there

Jackson stood awaiting
Called the killer with a shout
His enemy was fire-blind
And then the lights went out

His horse carried the dead man
To prove his story true
The people saw it diff'rent
For now he'd murdered two

The people wanted justice
They hung Jackson from a tree
Justice hadn't been done
At least his spirit's free

MY SOUL IS GLADDENED

My soul is gladdened when it hears your name
My heart takes wing through sweetened fruits of love
My world is colored differently the same
I know that God smiles down from up above
I look upon the stars and see your face
A-sailing on the feathers of the swan
Where moon lit love can fill the empty space
And yet return upon the beckoned dawn
So now thru inspiration words can say
What lonely men were never meant to tell
Discovering another on the way
To where our hearts and souls were meant to dwell
My Princess to thee I'm eternal true
For all my life is centered around you

THERE ONCE WAS A GRIZZLY BEAR GEORGE

There once was a grizzly bear George
Who lived in a bottomless gorge
He ate up the girl
With the long golden curl
Because she had eaten his porr'ge

PIZZA PLANET

1. I was born on Pizza Planet
A pizza with everything upon it
I breathe tomatoe sauce for air
There's nothing else to breathe down there

2. Pepperoni clouds roll by
Through the mozzarella sky
And I know the world is flat
Pizza school taught us that

3. The atmosphere is kinda' greasy
But life down here is so dang easy
Just sit around all through the day
And sleep all night, it's the only way

4. Even though the ground is bread
It's where you're buried when you're dead
And we don't mind here that the land's unleavened
'Cuz when we die we go to Pizza Heaven

~July 24,1988

I DREAMT I WAS A RIVER

I dreamt I was a river flowing out across the land
And felt that I could die 'cuz you weren't there to hold my hand
When I went down the falls I thought for sure that I was dead
But when I hit the bottom I awoke alone in bed
Your figure dances all around my ever-tortured mind
To tear us both apart right now the fates have been unkind
I need your arms around me every day and every night
Because with out you, darling, nothing ever goes alright

~July 15,1988

MINNESOTA SNOW

You ask how much I love you, do you really want to know?
I love you more my darling than the Minnesota snow
You are the ever-burning flame that lights my waking days
I love you for so many things and in so many ways
And when together, oh so close, your arms envelope me
Your heart, your soul, your life, your breath -- indeed they set me free
You ask how much I love you, do you really want to know?
I love you more my darling than the Minnesota snow

~July 9, 1988

I HAVE SOUGHT BEAUTY

I have sought Beauty
And that which is True
Since my very youth

Of all that I
Have found in this life
You are the most beautiful truth

~November, 1987

(IT LOOKS LIKE) I'M GONNA BE BLUE

1. I sit alone tonight in the company of the moon
I ask the question of her 'How long or how soon?'
Her face reflects without answer in the pool of tears I've cried
Wishing you could be right back here lying by my side

C. 'Cuz I get so lonely sometimes it's all that I can do
To keep myself from goin' crazy for want and need of you
It's only the thoughts of your love that finally get me thru
'Til we're again together it looks like I'm gonna be blue
'Til we're again together it looks like I'm gonna be blue
It looks like I'm gonna be blue

2. A question soars on the wings of the hoot owl's nocturnal flight
"You," the answer that I give him brightens up the night
You're the one I share my love with, one life and one heart
That's the reason I feel so broken when we've got to be apart

I sit alone tonight in the company of the moon~
