Blessed Aphrodite

Blessed Aphrodite will you help me understand
With the vast amount of hearts that beat at your command
Why must mine be tied to one that I may never have?
Is there not a healing spell or a heart-ache salve?
My request is not unique, you've heard this one before--
A heart broken wide open praying to be whole once more.
But my case is different, there is no unrequited love,
I've never known another whose heart fit mine like a glove
My heart is truly hers and here's the thing M'lady dear
I feel her heart is surely mine, she is my Guinevere.
So then the question still remains -- Whose heart took cupid's shot?
Does this make me Arthur or am I Sir Lancelot?
For to another she is bound and honor shan't allow
My crossing over any line to compromise her vow
So, though fanning the spark of hope may simply seem unwise
Her words may speak of love for him, yet touches not her eyes
By contrast when she greets me I watch her whole face beam
And when we speak of future plans, her tear drops tend to stream
I know I have no say in the affairs twixt her and mate
I also know that I must do more than just sit and wait.
Please tell me dear Goddess what it is that I must do
For the sake of Honor, Love, the Beautiful, the True?

Dear one, do not close your heart to larger frames of Love
For you can not imagine the wonders I am cap'ble of
On scales and from perspectives that would make your sweet heart spin
But always then brought home at last to rest in you again.
Challenges may well arise to make the heart grow strong
But does this conflict you describe not hint thy path is wrong?
The love you seek is free flowing, 'gainst which obstacles fall,
But this is not an obstacle, dear heart you've hit a wall.
And isn't that tremendous news? You know where not to go.
It really is that easy,  just surrender to the flow
For if there's too much effort, here's the lesson you must learn:
Love must be received, it is nothing you can earn.
So relax and trust, my love, thy boat within the stream
For soon this love will carry you to everything you dream.

Holding Up The Sky

I hold your heart with open hands
In case it needs to fly
And if it needs to spread its wings
I'll be holding up the sky

And if my wishes resonate
With those of the Divine
When comes the time, your heart to roost
Return it will to mine

SPLENDIFEROUSLY

I don't know if I'm s'pose to
But I know you know it's true
Despite the inconvenience
You know I do love you

I'm not saying "forever"
Or even, "We were meant to be"
All I know is when we are,
We are splendiferously

PHOENIX FLAME

By ferocious feathered Phoenix flame
Over the world I roar my name
And all I am I boldly claim
Forever me, never the same
Reborn by fires too wild to tame

BLANK

There's things I want to tell you
But my mind keeps going blank.
It seems like there's so much to say
But my vocabulary shrank.
So there's nothing left at all
And nothing left to do
But whisper in your ear again
The three words, "I love you."

WEBSTER'S LIST

I don't think the words exist
They've fallen off of Webster's list
To tell you how I feel

But though it's difficult to start
It's the language of my heart
Will let you know it's real

BLESSED BE THIS BLESSED LIGHT

I had the honor of playing the reborn Sun King at the Winter Solstice ritual with Gaia's Temple, and of writing and reciting the following blessing for the new era as the Mayan Calendar turned to a new cycle...

Blessed be this blessed light
Born anew this blessed night
The pangs of labor now subside
The tears of fears can now be dried
For every pain and sorrow hence
Every joy and dalliance
Was purposeful, has taken root
In you, the seeds of promised fruit
The quick'ning of humanity
The dawning age of unity
So blessed be this era bright
Blesssed be this blessed light

GREAT LADY OF THE MOON

Great Lady of the Moon
Who walks the wild lands
Rest with me a while
And hold me in your hands
Gather round your cloak
Of velvet sable night
And hunt with me the dreams
That we will bear come Vernal light

HOW I FEEL

Once my heart reconstitutes
After melting on the floor
And once my suddenly wobb'ly knees
Become solid once more

And when my brain regains itself
So rational thought returns
And once my stomach settles down
So it no longer churns

And when all of my senses
Finally cease to reel
That's when I will get the chance
To tell you how I feel

I'M NOT SAYING

I'm not saying "Forever"
I'm just stating how I feel
Right here in this moment
As my every wound doth heal

I'm not saying the "L" word
And all that word implies
I'm just sitting watching my heart
Soaring through the skies

The "L" word and "Forever"
May elude me at this time
But with you here, this moment
Is complete enough to rhyme.

I ALWAYS COME BACK TO YOU

It seems like it's been years now
Since I got to hold your hand
My knees are quivering
Don't know if I can stand

But I'm standing here now
It matters not what I went through
Because I realize
I always come back to you

I can not speak a word because
You take my breath away
Besides, my eyes are talking
So there's nothing more to say

Though I hope the tears don't block
The message getting through
. . .
I always come back to you

PINING

I wouldn't say I'm pining
And I sure hope I'm not whining
I just can't seem to think two thoughts
Without one being you

You know you so intrigue me
And I think you kinda' dig me
But I am just not sure about
What to do

Somewhere in your reflection
I feel a deep connection
To the man I am and who
I want to be

Still I don't want to label
And thereby dis-enable
What'er these feelings are
'Tween you and me

THANK GODDESS

Goddess of the woodland glen
I would thank you once again
For the great tenacity
With which these years you've hunted me

Since early days spent as a child
I felt the calling of the Wild
Though had not thought nor rhyme nor word
To know it was your voice I heard

As Tarzan, Crockett, Daniel Boone
I hunted lion, bear, and coon
Never guessing in my play
That it was me who was the prey

Now grown I walk the wildwood
In guise of modern Robin Hood
Grateful that the hunt is done
And that you've claimed me as your son

Lady, speaking as your game,
Hear me as I praise your name
And bless my Argent Archer's art
By which your arrow found my heart.

O LADY

O Lady of the Silver Bow
I wish to follow where you go.
What joyfullness your presence brings!
Teach me of the wild things.

O Lady of the Silver Moon
Your light doth cause my heart to swoon!
And in the rhytm of the tides
My virgin spirit's song abides.

O Lady of the Siver Way
With you I long to roam and play!
To dance with faery, gnome, and elf,
To know my wild, authentic self!

ICARUS HEART

My heart, it was a replica
A waxen, life-like thing
A multi-colored beauty,
With feathers glistening.

And with it I could soar so high
I forgot it wasn't real
Until I felt a glow inside;
Warmth I began to feel.

Was it your beaming smile
Or the glimmer in your eyes?
Something made the sun within
My True heart start to rise.

But it was in this gath'ring light
I fear my doom was dealt.
My feathered winged facsimile
Began to promptly melt.

What formerly held me aloft
No longer let me fly.
Beneath the formless waxen weight
I plummet from the sky.

But in the dawning of my heart
As light and warmth shone through,
I knew I weren't just falling --
I was falling now for you.

The fire in my heart burned off
The false wings of the past
Allowing what was True and present
Here to beat at last.

Then as I fell, my True Heart blazed,
The rush of wind took hold,
And in a cloud of feathered bliss
My heart's true wings unfold.

BRIAN JACQUES & JONATHON FRAKES

Brian Jacques and Jonathon Frakes
were sitting down for tea
Said Jonathon Frakes to Brian Jacques,
"What animal would I be?"
Brian Jacques told Jonathon Frakes
"It doesn't matter, you see --
For Jonathon Frakes," said Brian Jacques,
"You're number one to me!"

HOW EASY

How easy it would be to simply
Go on back to sleep
Pretend away the hurt and pain
And pray my soul to keep

But good or bad, that's not my path
My slumber days are done
Let fade the dreams and make believe
I rise and greet the sun

The old world I leave far behind
Navigating through it's strings
I may fall but can no longer
Pretend I don't have wings

MAY YOUR GODS AND GUIDES

May your gods and guides protect you
May your journey ever go
With the blessings of the seasons
By the light of faery glow.

May your heart resound with laughter
As it's overfilled with Love
From the fountain spring within you
And the waxing moon above.

Through your trials and your triumphs
May your light forever sing
As you weave the splendored beauty
Of the sparkling crow-birds wing.

BEFORE I KNEW YOU

Before I knew you, I didn't need you
Now I don't know if I can live without you
Well, I know I could, I would get on somehow
The question is, why would I really want to?

You are the moon reflecting on my ocean
You are the rainbow curving through my sky
You lift me up beyond mere survival
You have become the twinkle in my eye

Without you what would be the point in waking
Of course I would, though I wouldn't know why
Not accomplishing much more than breathing
Treading water while the world rolls by

You are the faery lights dancing through my forest
You are the shimmering stars peopling my night
I don't need you just to go on living
But you are that extra spark that makes my heart right

FORGIVE ME IF THESE LINES ARE ROUGH

Forgive me if these lines are rough
My poet's hand is rusty
But here before me stands a muse
So beautiful and lusty
My pen can't help but move itself
Although its ink is crusty
To express a vibrant love
Of a heart no longer dusty
